granite and quartz

This granite and quartz study was  made whilst I was on an afternoon walk in Waitpinga with Maleko. We walked  along Kings Beach, over, Kings Head, past the wilderness lodge, and down  to the rocky outcrop close to the  foot of  the Newland Head cliffs.

We walked around the rocky outcrop so that I could try out my  new digital camera--the Sony A7r111   in low light situations

water

This picture of  water at a rocky outcrop west of  Kings Head in Waitpinga was made just after I acquired a new, full frame  digital camera--a Sony Alpha A7r111. I was trying to see if the camera was an improvement on my earlier digital camera--a Sony NEX-7. Was it worth the money that I paid to go full frame?

A test image if you like to assess the dynamic range from white  to black:

I was fascinated by the water rushing through the crevice in the rocks. It was low tide and that allowed me to I climb down into the crevice to photograph the rocks and water. This is not something that I would normally do on this outcrop, as it is quite dangerous.

granite study

This granite study  was made on a poodlewalk just before I came down with a severe cold after the Mallee road trip and the wild, stormy winter weather set in.

I was with Kayla and  Maleko and it was late in the afternoon and it was difficult to access. I am not sure that I would be able to re-photograph it with a film camera on a tripod.
